The Articles Module was introduced with the release of Joomla! 5.2.

It is an exciting new development.

Reason: hitherto the display of Articles outside the Main Body of a Joomla! website required the use of a 3rd party extension.

Now you can display Articles in any Template Position and not just the Main Body of the website, using an 'out of the box' Joomla! CMS.

Example: you could create an Articles Module, and configure it to display one or more Articles on your website's Contact page.

We include an Example Articles Module in our default WYNCHCO Website Design, ready for you to use.

"The Articles module displays a list of articles, and is new in Joomla version 5.2, created in response to a request for a single module. The features of five existing article module types have been combined to provide more flexibility in the form of the new Articles Module."

The five existing article module types upon which precede the Articles Module remain useful for signposting content of various types:

Archived Articles Module.

Useful for signposting archived articles.

Category Module

Useful for signposting articles in one or more categories.

Latest Articles Module.

Useful for signposting the most recently published articles, say in a blog.

Most Read Articles Module.

Useful for signposting the most popular articles, say in a blog.

Newsflash Module.

Useful for signposting newsworthy articles.

As with all of the above module types, if the linked categories and/or their articles are not published then the Articles Module will not be visible - even when published - in the Front End.

The previous article module types have not been replaced.

They are still separately available for use as required.
