The Articles - Archived Module is the default Module included with the Joomla! CMS for the purpose of signposting Archived Articles.

A WYNCHCO Website Design is configured to display Archived Articles using the combination of two separate Modules:

  • Articles - Archived Module (included with the default Joomla! CMS), and
  • a Custom Module called Blog Archive.

The image below shows both Modules included in a WYNCHCO Website Design for the purpose of signposting Archived Articles.

Notice that both Modules, here listed in the Modules screen of the Dashboard, are by default unpublished.

How to archive an Article

The process is the same for all Articles.

Read more: How to archive an Article.

Note: archiving an Article does not hide it from public view in your website's Front End.

To hide an Article from view either:

  • unpublish it, or
  • change its Access Level permissions from Public to say Special or Super User.

If you choose the second option then only users with these permissions will be able to see the archived articles after they sign in the Front End.

Otherwise, even when the Archive Module is unpublished, archived Blog articles will be searchable in the Front End.

Articles - Archived Module

Included with the default Joomla! CMS.

This Module displays links to Archived Articles by month and is the default Module included with the Joomla! CMS for the purpose of signposting Archived Articles.

By default, when published this Module will not be visible unless you have archived Articles.

In a WYNCHCO Website Design this Module when published will be displayed in the sidebar-right Position.

Which Archived Articles are displayed and when is controlled by the associated Archived Articles Menu Link in the Hidden Menu of a WYNCHCO Website Design.

See Dashboard View below for how to change these settings.
