Working with Fields
The Joomla! CMS includes an example Articles Field called About the Author.
We include an additional Contacts Field called Telephone number when we create a WYNCHCO Website Design.
The Articles Field enables you to publish author information with website Articles.
The Contacts Field enables you to request a telephone number when a visitor completes a Contact Form.
In this article we show you how to create additional Articles and Contacts Fields.
The same principles apply should you want to also create additional User Fields.
Select the Fields link (see image) from the sidebar of your website's Dashboard to add one or more Articles Fields.
When you do you will see the example Field (called About the Author) under a tab labelled as The Author.
The tab is called The Author because:
- the Field called About the Author
- is in a Field Group called The Author.
If the Field had not been added to a Field Group then the tab would be labelled as Fields.
You can create as many Articles Field Groups as you like.
When you do and publish a Field in the new Field Group then a new tab will be added to each Article screen in your website's Dashboard.
And under the tab will be displayed the Fields you published in the new Field Group.
Select the Fields link (see image) from the sidebar of your website's Dashboard to add one or more Contacts Fields.
We show you how to add a Telephone Field to your website's Contact Form in this article.
