Recent news of Wordpress CMS security concerns should also concern Joomla! CMS users

The Hacker News has in the past year periodically published articles warning readers of the latest Wordpress CMS security concern.
The most likely reason that Wordpress concerns feature prominently in such articles is possibly because it has a very large global user base.
It therefore forms a much bigger juicer target for hackers.
Joomla! CMS users should however not be complacent.

Mozilla rushes out patch for Zero-Day exploit in Firefox
10 October 2024.
The Hacker News report that Mozilla "has revealed that a critical security flaw impacting Firefox and Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) has come under active exploitation in the wild."

Joomla! 5.2 CMS Release Date is just a few days away!
The release by The Joomla! Project of Joomla! CMS v5.2.0 is just a few days away!
If all goes to plan then the stable release for use with production websites of Joomla! 5.2 will be available on: 15 October 2024.
Note: Joomla! 5.2 introduces a significant new feature: Article Modules.

Microsoft issues patches for 2 zero-day flaws
Date: 9 October 2024.
The Hacker News report that "Microsoft has released security updates to fix a total of 118 vulnerabilities across its software portfolio, two of which have come under active exploitation in the wild".
A Zero-Day patch is issued by a developer when they discover a flaw which has been exploited without their knowledge.

Apple critical updates to fix VoiceOver Password Vulnerability
Date: 5 October 2024.
Hacker News report that Apple has "released iOS and iPadOS updates to address two security issues, one of which could have allowed a user's passwords to be read out aloud by its VoiceOver assistive technology".
Users are advised to update to iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1 to safeguard their devices against potential risks.
