3 November 2025.
Joomla! has been officially recognized as a Digital Public Good by the Digital Public Goods Alliance, an initiative supported by the United Nations.
The Joomla! Project announced that "this distinction places Joomla! among a select group of international open-source projects committed to openness, transparency, data protection, and social impact."
And that "the DPG recognition applies to Joomla! as a digital solution, not to the Joomla organization itself."
The Digital Public Goods Alliance's mission is to promote open-source solutions that advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and address global development challenges.
The Joomla! Project announcement (see link below) concluded by stating:
"This milestone underscores Joomla’s position as one of the world’s most trusted and adaptable open-source CMS platforms".

Benefit of being recognised as a Digital Public Good
The recognition as a Digital Public Good significantly enhances Joomla! CMS visibility on the global stage.
It serves as a quality seal, signaling trust and reliability.
"For governments, organizations, and companies worldwide, this means: Joomla is now an open, trustworthy, and future-proof solution, enabling projects to be implemented efficiently, accessibly, and successfully."
