Email problems whilst travelling overseas
When travelling abroad you may occasionally be unable to send mail from your email client, depending upon the geographic region.
A quick fix which usually works in this instance is to change the email client's outgoing mail settings for your email account.
Request alternative outgoing mail settings from your hosting company's technical support before travelling.
Things to do before you travel
1) Create a standby email account with a webmail provider like Google
You can do this from anywhere in the world that has internet access but we recommend doing so before you travel.
Register a standby email account with a third party provider like Google (Example: gmail).
Such an email account can be accessed directly via your web browser.
If the local ISP in a country is blocking the outgoing mail port used by the email client on your device, you can still send messages via this alternative email account.
Check you know how to use your hosting provider's webmail service
Webmail provides a quick and secure way to check your email using a web browser.
It enables you to access your email accounts without having to configure an Email Client on your device.
This is a useful feature when the Email Client on your device is malfunctioning or cannot connect to the Mail Server.
For example, the ISP used by your hotel is blocking the port used by your device's email client for sending mail.
Or the IP of the location you are trying to send from has been added to a block list because of heavy use by spammers.
