Useful information when you want to transfer your Domain Name from one Registrar to another.
If an issue arises and you want to monitor domain transfer progress then you can do so by visiting the following URL:
When you do, simply add the Domain Name to the above address.
Check the Domain Name to be transferred is not locked
If it is then remove the lock via the current Registrar's client area before requesting Domain Transfer.
Check the Registrant Contact details are correct
If not then change Registrant contact details before requesting Domain Transfer.
If you are the Registrant of a TLD Domain Name (examples: .COM or .NET) then check GDPR Protection has not been added to the Domain Name you want transfer before you request transfer by the new Registar.
Reason, the rules prevent transfer of a Domain Name which has GDPR Protection in place.
Worse, it is not possible to remove GDPR Protection from a Domain Name for which transfer is pending.
Fix: ask the current Registrar to cancel the transfer and start over.
If you are the Registrant of a .UK Domain Name and unable to transfer your Domain Name from your current Registrar for whatever reason, good news.
You can transfer your Domain using Nominet Online Services.
Nominet is the UK Domain Registry.
Nominet charge a nominal fee to switch your Domain Name from one Registrar to another.
At the time of writing, this is a fixed fee irrespective of how many Domains you are transferring.
