The Joomla! Project's policy is to issue a major new version every two years.
- Joomla! 6.0 was released in 2025.
- Joomla! 7.0 will be released in 2027, and so on.
And to issue minor releases every six months in April and October.
Joomla! 6.1 was released in April 2026.
Quote: "Having fixed months which are reliable helps everyone plan."
The minor release months are April and October in order to avoid the summer holidays in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
