Akeeba Admin Tools is our preferred Web Application Firewall.
Admin Tools v5.0.2 is a Bug Fix Release.
It is released just 1 month after the launch of Admin Tools 5.0.0 which introduced a brand new look & feel ... which we like!
The release notes (read on) state that Admin Tools 5.0.0 supports Joomla! 4 (still in development, stable version launch date: November 2018).
It is also compatible with the latest release of PHP: 7.2.
5.0.2 fixes a bug which has been reported in some instances to result in an Error 500 when ”Automatically compress static resources” is set to YES using the Admin Tools .htaccess Maker.
Check your settings before and after installing this update.
See Release Notes for more details.
5.0.1 introduces a new feature: a warning when FOF or FEF is not installed.
What are FOF and FEF?

The New Look
Important note about old Joomla! versions
Admin Tools 5.0.0 will only work with Joomla! 3.4 or later.
Admin Tools 5.1, when released, will no longer support Joomla! 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6.
Akeeba state: "Older versions of Joomla! have known major security issues which are being actively exploited to hack sites."

Users of versions older than Admin Tools v4.0.0
Read the developer's announcement about the need to manually update to v4 from an earlier version if you are already using an old version of Admin Tools.
Could you instead manually update from a pre v4 Admin Tools to v5.0.0?
We don't know. Contact the developer for more information.
Always perform a FULL backup before updating the Joomla! CMS and its extensions.
Web Appication Firewalls
No Joomla! website should be without a Web Application Firewall or WAF, especially if hosted in a shared server environment.
The WAF adds another line of defense between your website and the server firewall maintained by your hosting provider.
Find out more about WAFs in our Joomla! User Guide.
Always back up before updating extensions
Perform a FULL backup of your website (database and files) before installing any update.
