FOUR Practical Suggestions
Add an SSL certificate to your website
It is essential that you add an SSL certificate to your website if you want website content to rank high in search engine results.
Example: free Lets Encrypt SSl Certificate.
Install a Site Map
If you are serious about optimising your website for search engines then you need a site map.
The Benefits of a Sitemap
Sitemaps are a way to tell search engines about pages on your website that may not otherwise be discovered.
An XML sitemap is a list of all the pages on your website.
Creating and submitting a sitemap to the major search engines helps make sure that they know about all your website's content, including URLs that may not be discoverable by their usual crawling process.
Sitemaps are particularly helpful if your website:
- has dynamic content, as does a Joomla! website;
- has content that is not easily discovered by search engine robots during the crawl process;
- is new and has few relevant back links to it from other websiites;
- has a large amount of content that is not well linked, for example, links from within one article to other related articles.
There are some great 3rd party site map extensions which will produce an XML Site Map for your website.
Site maps that will grow with your website.
