These are the ways you can monitor visitors to your website:
1) Web Server Traffic Analysis Tools,
2) Access and Error Logs,
3) Web Analysis Tools.
Web Server Traffic Analysis Tools
AWStats and Webalizer are two examples.
Either will present graphs to illutrate traffic patterns as well as identify the source by IP address of traffic to your website.
You will need to sign into your Hosting Control Panel to activate either one of these tools before you can use them.

Access & Error Logs
You can monitor traffic to your website in a less visually friendly way by means of Access and Error Logs.
These can be viewed and downloaded from the server after signing into your Hosting Control Panel.
They are useful for:
- evluating potential website hacks and
- resolving issues when your website is malfunctioning.

Web Analysis Tools
Google Analytics is an example of a web application designed to enable website owners to monitor the success of their search engine marketing strategy.
Its use requires adding script provided by Google to your website.
