""Hello, After reviewing your appeal, your Page Joomla has been published. This means it can now be viewed publicly. The Facebook Team".
The Joomla! Project's Facebook page has now been restored.
24 August 2024.
The Joomla! Project has announced that "on Wednesday 21st August 2024, our official Joomla Facebook page was suddenly suspended by Meta (formerly Facebook) due to allegations of impersonation."
"Meta’s reason for the suspension cited impersonation, suggesting that our page was pretending to be another brand or entity. However, this is obviously not the case."
"The Meta Pro Team reported that the initial action was taken by AI without human confirmation, and without any notification."
This despite Joomla's Facebook page having "consistently adhered to Facebook's policies and guidelines since its creation in 2007".
The Joomla! Project report that one of their page admins was able to speak to a member of the Meta Pro Team but without success.
The Joomla! Project are exploring all available options to address this situation with Meta.

Here's a suggestion
Close the Joomla! Project's Facebook account!
Walk the talk: create an account with an open source social media platform.
The best open source alternative to Facebook, according to alternativeto.net, is Diaspora.
Other interesting open source alternatives to Facebook are Minds, Mastodon, Gab and Friendica.
Open source alternatives are likely to be more privacy-aware than is Facebook.
